Weekly Notices - 31st May 2026
This week, as we celebrate Trinity Sunday, we welcome once again, Vickie and the awesome Sumner Silver Brass Band. It is always a delight to have this excellent group of musicians lead our service and we are truly grateful for the time the group puts in for their rehearsals, and the energy they bring to our worship. Thank you Loki, for your passion for Christ and for engaging us with this magnificent gift of the SSBB!
The doctrine of the Trinity is essential to the Christian faith. Believing in God’s Triune Being is how the church guards against false interpretations of the biblical understanding of who God is, what he is like, how he works in the world, and how he relates to us. In short, the Trinity distinguishes Christianity from all other religions.
The Trinity can be defined as the belief that God is one in BEING and three in PERSON. This means that within the one essence of God, there are three distinct persons: the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit. Each of these persons is fully God, sharing the same divine nature, yet they are distinct in their personhood and roles. We can look at a married mother as an example – a woman, a mother to her children and a wife to her husband.

Parish Prayer Theme for month of May: World Peace and Social Justice.
As we draw together all our prayers for World Peace and Social Justice, you might like to listen to the following prayer online. It was written back in 1938 at the time the world was on the brink of yet another horrific war. Just google in Peace in our Time O Lord Stornway Salvation Army and pray your way through this prayer.
