Concerts

St Augustine’s Church is known across Christchurch for it’s stunning acoustics. After the Christchurch earthquakes, the Church was successfully used for five years as a concert venue (until ‘The Piano’ became operational in 2016).

St Augustine's Church

Renovated in the 1960's by highly respected Christchurch architects Warren and Mahoney, St Augustine's Church is an iconic architectural landmark in Cashmere. It has excellent acoustics, plenty of natural light, a rich wooden ceiling and also features stunning stained glass windows. We also have a fine Yamaha Grand Piano plus of course our wonderful organ which, with it’s 12,000 plus pipes is an instrument that can played across a wide range of musical styles. All of these features make it the perfect space for musical events such as orchestral and organ performances and concerts. 

  • The pews in the main body of the Church comfortably seat 133 people. Extra seating can be placed in the back and sides, giving total seating for about 200. There are also a number of useful spaces nearby, small and large, if you need any preparation or reception areas for your event.

    • Fixed pew seating and additional seating can be added if needed

    • 18 off-street car parks and plenty of roadside parking

    • Wheelchair accessible space and toilet

    • Data projector

    • Microphones and speaker are available 

    • AV system with HDMI connection for laptops

Hannan Centre Lounge

A light-filled seating and kitchen area adjoining the rear of the main church auditorium and accessible directly via an external ramp from the street. This room works as a great space for performers gathering before a concert and refreshments afterwards. Includes complimentary use of the kitchen area.
