Concerts

St Augustine’s Church is known across Christchurch for it’s stunning acoustics. After the Christchurch earthquakes, the Church was successfully used for five years as a concert venue (until ‘The Piano’ became operational in 2016).

Our next upcoming Concert (August 3rd) is an Organ Concert featuring Sea-am Thompson. Click here for details!

In May 2026 we hosted the ‘Sumner Silver Brass Band’. Click here for details

In 2025 we hosted a lovely jazz concert (‘ St Aug’s Serenades’, click here for details)
And later in the year a very successful series of ‘organ based’ concerts (click here for details)

In 2024 we hosted a very successful ‘Centenary Concert’ featuring organ, harp and jazz ensembles. Some clips from this concert feature below.

St Augustine's Church

Renovated in the 1960's by highly respected Christchurch architects Warren and Mahoney, St Augustine's Church is an iconic architectural landmark in Cashmere. It has excellent acoustics, plenty of natural light, a rich wooden ceiling and also features stunning stained glass windows. We also have a fine Yamaha Grand Piano plus of course our wonderful organ which, with it’s 12,000 plus pipes is an instrument that can played across a wide range of musical styles. All of these features make it the perfect space for musical events such as orchestral and organ performances and concerts.

Hannan Centre Lounge

A light-filled seating and kitchen area adjoining the rear of the main church auditorium and accessible directly via an external ramp from the street. This room works as a great space for performers gathering before a concert and refreshments afterwards. Includes complimentary use of the kitchen area.
