Weekly Notices - 2nd August 2026
I write the August prayer theme, overlooking the beautiful snow-capped mountains ----
“I lift my eyes to the mountains-where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of Heaven and Earth?” (Psalm 121:1)
In the stillness of an early morning prayer time, I know God is in our prayers for the direction over changing or rearranging the Sunday service times. We will continue the July theme through August seeking God in faithful prayer for his guidance and direction whether combining our two Sunday services is the best way forward.
We are asking Kofe three questions this morning on Church worship to further help guide our thinking and prayer.
1. What does church worship look like for you?
2. Why is meeting together for worship as a community important?
3. How do the values of ‘liturgy in worship’ help us engage and experience God?
Quote from NT Wright:
Worship is humble and glad.
Worship forgets itself in remembering God.
Worship celebrates the truth as Gods truth not its own.
True worship doesn’t put on a show or make a fuss.
True worship isn’t forced, isn’t half-hearted, doesn’t keep looking at its watch, doesn’t worry what the person in the next pew is doing.
True worship is open to God, adoring God, waiting for God, trusting God even in the dark.
And Paul says “I urge you brothers and sisters in view of God’s mercy to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, this is your true and proper worship”. (Romans 12:1)

This Sunday’s Service (2nd August)
Theme: The God we serve is our Provider; the Source of all that is good
Sentence: The Lord is near to all who call on him in truth. He fulfils the desire of all that fear him, hears their cry, and saves them. Psalm 145:18–19
Collect:
O God of the hungry,
cleanse and defend your church,
and, since it cannot stand firm without you,
guide and govern it always by your goodness;
make us hunger and thirst for the right,
till our thirst for justice has been satisfied
and hunger has gone from the earth.
Hear this prayer for your love’s sake.

From Kofe’s Desk
I just want to say a huge Thank You to those who could attend our parish meeting last Sunday. I am privileged to have heard how you feel, and I assure you that the Wardens, Vestry and I will be closely considering our way forward.
I also want to thank our Parish Administrator Paula for her note taking skills and her availability on the day. Paula undertakes so many different tasks for us as a parish, and right now, she is also battling with decisions regarding her Mum's future. So thank you Paula. You're a legend.
My deepest appreciation goes out to Mr Hugh Martyn for conducting our meeting in the way he did. Hugh wears several different hats in the life of this parish, and it was so kind of him to agree to lead our meeting, allowing me to sit with our people. I am grateful!
Many do not realise the work that goes on behind the scenes to provide age-appropriate services each Sunday, and I am thankful that in the process leading up to our meeting, there was clarity gained around our Sunday mornings. While there is indeed a need for people to help out at both services, we must also hold the need for care for our 9.30am elderly who are massively declining in numbers.
We are called by God to be a loving, serving community. I hope that as we proceed in whichever way we find ourselves heading, we remember to continue to love each other and hold each other to God in prayer.
Let us hold hands together as we are continually blessed with Mercies which are new every morning.
