Weekly Notices - 12th July 2026
This week, Jesus shares the Parable of the Sower, illustrating how the Word of God is received differently depending on the “soil” of our hearts. He begins by describing a sower scattering seeds, some falling on the path, rocky ground, among thorns, and some on good soil. The disciples are later given the explanation, revealing that the parable is about the human response to God’s Word and the spiritual growth that follows.
Jesus is tossing out a story the way the sower tosses out seeds. The story lands beside our lives as a mirror in which to see ourselves, as a window into our hearts. As we prayerfully contemplate the future of our Sunday worship services, let us dig deep into the soils of our hearts and give ourselves time to hear where God is telling us to go.
In our examination and prayer, let us be reminded of the demographic differences of our 2 congregations: one, an elderly group of people who grew up in the traditional Anglican style of worship and who still hold dearly to the values of this format; the other, a younger group who, while embracing our true Anglican style, wish to hold onto a more vibrant, less formal culture of worship. Our challenge will be how to bring these 2 formats together.

This week we are holding the people of Venezuela in our prayers and taking
action after two powerful earthquakes struck the north of the country on 24 June. In just moments, families lost homes, loved ones, places of work, and the ordinary sense of safety that sits beneath daily life.
Many are grieving. Many are injured. Many are still waiting for news of people they love.
The local Church in Venezuela is present among communities now facing shock, displacement and uncertainty.
Anglican Missions is launching an emergency appeal to raise funds for the response. The immediate needs being identified are simple, urgent and
human: food, water, health support and shelter.
