Weekly Notices - 12th April 2026

Christ is Risen….Halleluia! He is Risen INDEED!

It is delightful to know that we have walked together, as a parish family, through the wilderness of our Lent Season, Holy Week and Good Friday, arriving at Easter Sunday with renewed joy in our hearts and a faith that is consistently growing in its renewal and reaffirmation!

We thoroughly enjoyed the volume of presence as we shared with Cashmere Presbyterian Church last Thursday night at our Tenebrae Service: one of deep solemnity as we reflected on Jesus’ final night with His disciples as he faced His accuser after having washed their feet.

On Good Friday morning, around 30 of our folks gathered to Walk Jesus’ Cross from Cashmere Presbyterian Church to St Aug’s. A beautiful morning it was! And for  change, drivers did not toot their horns at us.

That same morning, after sharing hot cross buns and coffee/tea, we entered our beautiful church space for a reflective service, listening to the whole Passion Gospel and singing heartwarming hymns appropriate for the day. A wonderfully poignant experience of self-examination and soul-searching to words of encouragement from both Rev Hamish Galloway and myself.

We now move further into the Season of Eastertide, where we will be embracing the various appearances of Jesus to His disciples and to others post-Resurrection. May we continue to be introspective in our faith walk, and draw closer to our Risen Lord, holding those who lost loves ones during our journey, close in our prayers.

May God continue to bless St Aug’s,

Your Friend & Vicar, Kofe.

Vicar Kofe

This Sunday’s Service (12th April)

Theme: Glorifying God through Jesus’ resurrection

Sentence: Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By his great mercy he has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.  1 Peter 1:8

Collect:
Eternal Father,
through the resurrection of your Son,
help us to face the future
with courage and assurance,
knowing that nothing in death or life
can ever separate us from your love.
This we ask through the same Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen

Readings: Acts 2: 14a, 22-32 & John 20: 19-31

Our AGM date has been set for Saturday, 18th April.  Please pray over this most important meeting, and let the Vicar know if you're interested in being a part of our Vestry: no age barriers; we are looking for strong voices who be a part of our decision making group.

MONTHLY PRAYER TOPICS - APRIL

As we work our way through the year, the Prayer Working Group (Liz, Jenny, Christine) would like to lead you through a journey of praying together, as a church, for one carefully selected topic each month.

And here’s the topic for the month of April:

Prayer for our own families: spouses, partners, children, grandchildren…..

Before we pick up on praying together for our church, our community, our world etc, we wanted to join together in praying with you for your very own family.

Next to the Prayer Table with the candles and Prayer Box is a board where, at any time in the month of April,   you are invited to place the names of your family members who you would like us all to pray for.   You can either write their first name(s), or simply put their initials.  Then each member of the parish is invited to glance at these names from time to time, pray for these people as you read their names, then continue the prayer during the week right throughout the month of April.  The Sunday Intercessors will also pray for this group of people  (but without stating individual names)

Many of us have family members with big needs, or have long prayed for our family members to commence (or recommence) their own spiritual journeys as they open their lives to God and his grace.  There are many who we long  to return to the faith we brought them up in.  Here’s an opportunity for the whole parish to join you in your heart-felt prayer!

Now glory be to God, who by his mighty power at work within us is able to do far more that we would ever dare to ask or even dream of – infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts or hopes.  (Ephesians 3: 20 – Living Bible)
